To our Fellow Campus Ministers,
For the last 63 years, men and women have gathered each summer at the Campus for Christ Conference to encourage one another, learn from one another and pray for one another in an effort to become better campus ministers and win college students to the Lord.
We were looking forward to our conference later this summer in Albuquerque, New Mexico; however, protecting the health of each of you and your families is our top priority. Therefore, the Board has made the difficult decision to suspend this year’s gathering. We are extremely grateful to Garrett Schmille and his staff at UNM for all their hard work, preparation and planning, and we are excited to gather in Albuquerque in July of 2021.
Much prayer and thoughtful discussion went into this decision, but in the end, too many factors remain unknown regarding the spread of the virus and how we can best comply with the ever changing mandates and guidelines from Federal, State, and Local governments, while also addressing the numerous practical and logistical details such measures as social distancing, deep cleaning, and continual disinfecting require. In addition, we are very aware that many of you and your churches have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and that travel budgets may be significantly reduced this year.
We are extremely encouraged by the number of you joining our bi-weekly Zoom calls and are grateful that technology allows us to stay connected even though we are far apart. If you haven’t done so already, we invite you to join us on these calls as we help one another with the sharing of best practices, planning for the fall semester, times of prayer, and much more.
We apologize for any inconvenience this decision may have caused, but we certainly appreciate your patience, prayers and understanding as we sorted things out. We look forward to a wonderful reunion and conference next year, and to staying connected in other ways until then.
In Christ’s love,
The Campus for Christ Board
